How To Automate Your Home Pool

In most instances, pool automation is a complex process that involves machines to save on cost and labour. However, when we talk about automating a swimming pool, it’s actually quite simple. Most pool automation products, such as our Viron Connect, are plug-and-play once hardwired. After the hardware is installed and plugged in, you then need to connect your automation device to the internet and download the corresponding digital app to be able to control your equipment. With an automated pool, you can activate your spa jets and heater from your worksite and have them ready for when you arrive home.

Here’s how to automate your pool:

  • Before purchasing automation equipment, ensure you have a reliable internet connection. The latest pool automation equipment connects wirelessly to your home network.
  • Purchase a pool control system - this will be the heart of your automation.
  • Connect the pool controller to power and plug your other pool equipment into the controller’s power outlets. Note that not all pool equipment is compatible with this technology. Typically, only newer gear will work.
  • Check the user guide and connect your pool controller wirelessly to the internet.
  • Then, connect your controller to your other devices via Bluetooth, if possible.
  • Download any supporting applications for your controller, and this will likely be your means of controlling your pool equipment remotely.
  • Test your equipment works via the touchscreen interface on your pool controller, then again on your smart device via the application.
  • Enjoy!
