SIZING A POOL HEATER
If you’ve decided to apply a heating system to your pool, the first thing you need to do is conduct a thermal audit to effectively “size up” your pool. A thermal audit will determine:

Both the shape and size of your pool or spa affect the time it takes to heat up and the amount of energy required to heat it. However, there are a number of other factors that need to be considered.
Air temperature, wind, and various other environmental factors figure into how fast you can heat your pool. Cooler air temperatures and high winds have a significant effect on heat loss due to evaporation, necessitating more energy to heat your pool. Different areas across Australia and New Zealand have different climates and therefore require different heating systems for pools of the same size.
